Vintage Boy's Nursery Design ideas

This baby boy had two big sisters and therefore we wanted to ensure this vintage Americana nursery was all boy! We started by adding a chair rail and finishing the walls below with a denim paint finish. Mom wanted a very nostalgic, vintage appeal to the nursery and wanted to incorporate some sentimental teddy bears into the scheme. Some bears and stars were stenciled above the chair rail. The shelf holds an old photo of Mom's grandfather with his twin brother, as kids. The two blue bears on the shelf were custom made from her now deceased grandfather's favorite sweater. What a sweet sentiment to honor family! In completing the room, I asked permission to rummage through pictures and other family items stored in boxes elsewhere. I found this fantastic old framed cover of The New Yorker that depicted parents trying to sleep with a little boy jumping on their bed. How appropriate for this boy's nursery! I purchased the wooden initials at a local craft store and painted them denim blue and added red stars to the surface. I purchased red drawer knobs at a local home improvement store and exchanged the screws for screws with threading on both ends so we could screw the knobs right into the wall. I stapled white ribbon to the backs of the wooden letters and tied a neat bow by which to hang them. I pulled the overalls and denim hat out of the closet for hanging on the peg shelf and finished off with other items found around the home. Mom was thrilled with her vintage boy's nursery and we did it all with a small budget to boot!
